Aveda Hair Images

After a really busy week I finally have the time to sit down and write a bog post on how the images worked out for the Aveda shoot that I did at the start of the week.
This time I've tried as best as possible to catalogue the shoot and what I did. Last entry I had a good idea of what I wanted to achieve with the lighting so I knocked together a little diagram on Strobox, a nifty little iphone app that lets you set out where you put your lights.
Doing this saves a lot of time in the setting up! About half an hour to tweak the exposures and we were ready for the hairstylists and models. Most of the work had already been done at the salon so a couple of finishing touches to hair and make-up and we were ready to go.

After a hectic couple of days to get the images retouched and printed on time, here are the final results. The response has been great and although the models had never done anything like that before they were great!

Busy next couple of weeks!

So,
I wanted to get some of the images from the last shoot up quickly to show them off. We've had loads of great feedback from the images so here you go :)

Tonight and tomorrow will mainly consist of research for a shoot we have for Aveda on Monday evening. My friend Ben is a stylist at the Nottingham branch and the guys need images to send in for a competition. After being let down they decided to give me a shout... last wednesday! Talk about last minute!
The idea I have is to base it around an image that I did recently with Frankii Wilde.

I'm thinking that a kick light from behind for a beautiful little halo, a softbox on a boom overhead right for a hair light and a fill light off to the left to soften the shadows a little for a little glint in the eyes. I want to keep the images a little shadowy, a little dark as from the descriptions of the cuts and ideas I think we're going quite high fashion.

I collated a couple of images together more for my own research and reference more than anything!

After that, more work on the tattoo tuesday and then off to Newcastle for my friend's wedding (guest only!), more tattoo work and two birthdays.
Non stop in the Miss Rain camp!

New blog, Sapphire Black in Violaceous Latex. Makeup by Ms Moo

Hi everyone!
I think I have been bothering people quite a bit on Twitter with my recent works and sometimes 140 characters isn't enough! I'd like to share an image from Sunday's shoot with the awesome Sapphire Black for Violaceous Latex. I think she may have been daunted by mine and Ms Moo's banter but she came round in the end!
One thing I tried on Sunday was hairdressing. I often help out with retro styles on the model but this was the first time I'd gone out of my way to create something in advance.

Sali, as usual was taking photos on her blackberry while I was shooting. We shot the first part in her living room in a style I had wanted to try for a long time, it worked out well but I'd like to take the idea further in another shoot. Apologies for standing on your sofa Sali ;)

Sofa surfing...

Although I tried looking desperately for some concrete tunnels (I'm still looking) the second location came on a whim but I think worked out quite well. A cow shed in the middle of Staunton Harold...
My first try with off camera flash and I think it went well, room for improvement but I will always be a perfectionist. Some of my first choice swear words were in full force when swapping out overheated batteries but all in all pretty painless

Hope you like the start to my new blog, I shall be updating frequently with my trials and tribulations and appreciate feedback Check back soon.
